Symbol line

Command: SYMLINE

Description

With the symbol line manager, you can create your own or ready-made symbol lines on existing drawing elements.

The desired symbol is automatically adapted to the drawing elements to be overlaid and thus becomes a property of the drawing object (e.g. like a line type). The Symbol line is therefore also dependent on the object, ie it is updated when changes are made or removed when the original object is deleted.

Symbol lines can be created with the command ORIGIN can be broken down into individual objects, although the amount of data can increase by leaps and bounds.

Application

Use symbol line

Hide baseline: You can make the baseline visible again later by editing this property of the symbol line. If the symbol line is deleted, the baseline automatically becomes visible. Or you can use separate layers for baselines and symbol lines. This gives you the option of viewing the display using the Layer manager control by freezing the relevant layer.

With Import can be used in LandPlan CAD Version 3.14 or DATAflor CAD V3 created symbol lines in DATAflor CAD can be imported. If it is possible to use your own line types with shapes instead of the symbol lines, this is preferable to the use of symbol lines (large amount of data!).

The content of the table is taken from the file SYMBOLS.TAB im DATAflor CAD user directory read out. The Definition of the symbol lines is in files with the extension * .SYMwhich are also stored in this directory.
If a central directory is to be accessed from several workstations, then please also note the options for adaptation in the network (Database and network access).

Create your own symbol lines

Within the Use circles, arcs and rounded polylines (e.g. splines) for a symbol, before defining the symbol in the basic settings (command MCONFIG) set the circle segments per full circle to the required accuracy value. If the values are too small, circles or arcs appear angular.

When creating the symbol lines, the scale must be taken into account, which makes the subsequent handling of factors much easier.

For example: If pavement slabs with an edge length = 0.50 m are to be created as a symbol line, then draw them in advance with 0.50 drawing units. If the symbol lines should not contain any real values, it is advisable to create them with a length of 1 m. In this way, an exact value can also be achieved later by specifying a scaling factor.
