Use total station data for the Smart DTM

Command: TSIMPORT

Description

This function enables the user to process measurement points from measurement point files of various origins (e.g. files from total stations, files from geodetic software, etc.) and save them as measurement points in DATAflor Present CAD graphically and non-graphically.

Application

  1. About the button open file a file selection window appears in which the measurement file to be imported is selected. To do this, change to the appropriate directory and confirm the file selection with [To open].
  2. If the file cannot be opened with the preset format, then the tab Format either another format that has already been saved can be selected or a new format can be created.
  3. With confirmation of [OK] the data is imported into the drawing.

Features

Functions in the toolbox

There is a toolbox on each tab which, depending on the tab selected, contains the following functions:

Open file: Opens the dialog for selecting the measurement file to be imported.
Read selected file again: Discards all changes and reads the measurement file again.
In the area Format / configuration / layout / coding settings that have already been saved can be selected from the list.
Save Changes: Depending on the tab selected, either new settings can be saved or existing ones can be overwritten.
Delete settings: The selected setting is deleted. The settings from the Default accepted. The settings under Default cannot be deleted.
Discard changes: The selected settings are reset to their original state on each tab. All changes are discarded.

Data tab

Under the tab data an overview of the data to be imported using the selected format is displayed.

The overview can be sorted by columns. With the Icon, further columns are added to or removed from the overview.

If only certain data are to be imported (e.g. only the limits), you have two options:

  1. Either you sort the overview according to the column Point code name and then mark the desired area.
  2. Or you can drag the column Point code name in the grouping line at the top and then mark the group.

Format tab

Under the tab Format a function is assigned to the individual data.

The list unity defines in which unit the measured data are available.

In the list modus choose the type of structure of the import file: line based and column based.

Is the mode column based, then that's one more Decimal separator and separator of the individual columns in order to be able to interpret the data correctly.

If necessary, an incorrect separator or a space can be replaced.
The corresponding position is marked in the selection line (1 position) and with Replace characters replaced.
If a separator is missing, an additional character can be used.
The cursor is placed in the appropriate position and with Insert characters the selected separator is set.

Allocation of the data

In the area above the table, the data of the table columns are assigned by marking the data in the selection line and assigning it using the button.
The longest line of the measurement file is automatically displayed in the selection line. If necessary, another line of the file can be selected here.

At a column-based Format can simply be clicked in an area between two separators and then assigned to the column. The range is determined automatically on the basis of the separators.

The table can be sorted by columns. With the Icon, further columns are added to or removed from the overview.

In that area Filter it can be determined whether only certain lines of the file should be read in or whether lines should be ignored.
An example of use would be ignoring rows with control values.
For this purpose, the checkmark is set accordingly and the character or character string is written into the field (Note upper and lower case) and then with [Apply] approved. The counter shows how much data is available for import after filtering.

If several entries are to be filtered, they must be separated with a semicolon. (e.g. @; measured value)

Configuration tab

Under the tab Configuration additional settings for data import can be made.

Options

Is the option Generate measuring points in 2D active, all measuring points are created in 2D (Z = 0.0).

If 2D points are generated, the option Label 2D objects with real heights the measured height can be written to the objects, although the objects are all inserted into the drawing with a height of 0.00.

With the option Generate measuring point line graphics in 2D all measuring lines are created in 2D (Z = 0.0); otherwise, 3D measurement lines are created.

With the option Generate DTM point set a DTM point set is created after the data has been imported.

As soon as this option is activated, the point numbers supplied by the measurement are used as point numbers in the point set.
If a point set is formed from the imported points, the point numbers are also adopted.
see Combine height points to a point set
see Instructions for use > Chapter Use point ID from point files

If a DTM point set is created, the option Set point code name in DTM point set description the name of the point code from the Coding tab can be written into the description of the DTM point set.

Is Remove leading zeros from point numbers activated, the point numbers are displayed without leading zeros.

Layer

Here you can set detailed specifications for the layers that are used when importing the data.

With the option Separate layers for points, text and graphics the created objects are sorted on different layers.
In the text fields you set the layer defaults that are placed before (layer prefix) or after (layer suffix) in the created layers.

Layout tab

On the tab layout the representation of the points (e.g. number of decimal places) can be changed. Point size and point symbol can be changed with the command PYP . call

There are three types of point representations available:

AutoCAD point with text Various settings for display and text are available for the AutoCAD point. The settings from the current text style (e.g. font, text height) are used here.
Block with attributes A file can be selected for the block with attributes and a value can be assigned to the attributes.
DTM point Various settings for display and text are available for the DTM point. The text height is based on the AutoCAD settings for the point style. You can also define your own point style.

Additional settings for the AutoCAD point and DTM point

The point labeling is controlled in the table. In the column Show the individual labels are switched on or off. The column for the Position controls whether the label should be displayed above or below the point symbol. In the column row the line number (1, 2 or 3) can be selected for the labeling. If several texts are assigned to the same line, they are displayed next to one another.

Will the option Point style (only DTM point) activated, individual settings for displaying the point and the border can be set. The point size settings are still adopted by the point style.

The Definition of the point style should be on absolute Values can be set so that the size of the points is independent of the representation of the drawing on the screen. If the values are proportional to the screen, the size is recalculated each time the zoom factor is changed. This can have undesirable effects, for example when outputting a plan.

If the setting in the Template file the change of the point style does not have to be adjusted for each drawing.

The Text color selected and various other settings made for the text.

Coding tab

On the tab encoding can the Point code and the Graphic code can be adapted to your own needs.

Point code

In the column Name give each code a unique name. Additional information can be found in the column Info enter. In the column Block a block from the library can be assigned to each code. The columns Layer, Line type and Color control further properties for each code.

Is in the column Layer the option «Like name» is used, the name of the point code is used. If a code has not been given a name, the code number is used as a layer.

To use the Layer, Line type or the Color To change, several lines can be marked and then adjusted in the corresponding column.

In order to assign a block to a code, the library is opened with the button opened and the corresponding block dragged into the column with the left mouse button pressed and then dropped.

To import the block into the drawing, the graphic code 12 + factor must be used.

Graphic code

In the Structure of the graphic code you can specify whether there is a separator between the graphic code and the code option. The list unity refers to the code option radius and diameter.

In the table above you can enter one per code Layer and Color be awarded.

If the layer and the color of the point code are to be used, then for the graphic code "Measuring point" to get voted.

In the column Code option in the table below stand for the Point with diameter and the Circle / diameter the following options are available:

Diameter The value in the coding describes the diameter of the circle
Radius The value in the coding describes the radius of the circle

Info tab

On the tab Info the data lines that were ignored by the program are displayed.

Filtered lines

On the tab Filtered lines the lines displayed through the filter on the tab Format can be filtered out (here all entries that begin with "stairs").

Ignored lines

The tab Ignored lines Displays the data lines with line number and cause that do not fit the format due to incorrect syntax and therefore cannot be used.
