DATAflor Version manager (from version 2023)
Description
With the help of DATAflor Version managers keep your DATAflor Products (from version 2022) always up to date.

The Service DATAflor Version manager checks the availability of new patches, downloads them and starts the installation.
In the program interface of the version manager More functions such as manual checking of new patches and user rights management.
How the service works
at the individual workstation
a) The service DATAflor Version manager checks whether the installed DATAflor Products new patches and upgrades/updates are available.
- If patches are available, they will be downloaded immediately. The patches are also installed immediately when the system is started; otherwise at the start of the respective DATAflor Programs.
- If upgrades/updates are available, they will be published on the Upgrades/Updates tab displayed.
b) If the computer is in operation at night, the service checks DATAflor Version manager every night between 01:00 and 02:00 the availability of new patches and upgrades/updates. The time is set automatically when the version manager is installed and is stored on the Options tab displayed.
- If patches are available, they will be downloaded immediately and automatically half an hour after downloading or when the respective patch is started DATAflor Programs installed.
- If upgrades/updates are available, they will be published on the Upgrades/Updates tab displayed.
- It can take a few minutes for the operating system to execute all processes after the system has started.
- The patches and upgrades/updates will be not by manually starting the service DATAflor Version manager Installed.

a) The service checks the network workstations DATAflor Version manager within 5 minutes after the system start or after waking up from energy-saving mode, whether for the installed DATAflor New patches are available for products on the server. When the system is started, the patches are also installed immediately; otherwise at the start of the respective DATAflor Programs.
b) If the network workstation is in operation at night (e.g. terminal server), the patches are automatically installed half an hour after the patches have been downloaded to the server. - If upgrades/updates are available, they will be published on the Upgrades/Updates tab displayed.

About Windows Start> DATAflor > DATAflor Version manager you can also start the program interface of the version manager manually at any time, among other things individually check the availability of updates and plan the installation of upgrades/updates.
Version manager functions
Show version status
On Workstations tab the data on the version status of the product are displayed for each workstation in the network.
In the network, you can individually specify which users can see the product information of all workstations or just the information from their own computer. The user rights setting can be found on the tab Options in section User administration.
The color coding (green, orange, red) of the individual patches shows the respective processing status.

You can sort and group the display of the patch data individually in the table.
You can use the search fields to search for a computer in the network (PC name) or find a specific patch by searching for version number, TFS case, date, etc.
Basic settings
On the tab Options > General the system-relevant data such as the name and port of the version manager server, download directory and download time are displayed in the upper area.
In the network, you can individually specify which users can edit the settings. The user rights setting can be found on the tab Options in section User administration.
Upgrading / Updating

In your own interest, please carry out a complete data backup before installation.
On the tab Upgrading/Updating on the left are the installed ones DATAflor Products for which a new program version is available and the version number of the new program version are displayed.
System check
If you mark a product, the workstations in your network on which the selected product is installed are listed on the right-hand side.
Network workstations that are switched on and connected to the network are automatically checked to see whether they meet the system requirements for the new program version.

A planned server upgrade/update is also carried out if one or more network workstations do not meet the system requirements for the new program version. As a result, at the affected jobs not more with BUSINESS can be worked.
Our recommendation: Before installing the new program version, make sure that the system check has been carried out on all workstations and no Result Not successful (red) is.
If you open the context menu for a workstation using the right mouse button, the following functions are available:
- to open - view the result of the system check of the workstation with all details
- Run system check again - Run the system check for the selected network workstation again
- Run all system checks again - run the system check for all network workstations again
Perform standalone upgrade
To activate the automated installation of the upgrade/update, click on [Run installation].
There are following notification messages that show the status of the installation. After completing the installation, the respective single-user product can be started with the new version.
Plan network upgrade
To configure the automated installation of the upgrade/update, click on [Schedule Installation]. The dialogue Upgrade/update planning will be opened.
- Select the day and time that your BUSINESS-Server should be automatically updated with the new program version. This will happen at the network workstations BUSINESS-Program then automatically updated after the next computer start.
- In addition, to the BUSINESS-Clients will see a maintenance notice informing users that the BUSINESS-Server will be updated soon and not in at this time BUSINESS can be worked. Set how long before installation you want this notice to appear.
With the function Scheduled for {scheduled day and time} can you dialogue Upgrade/update planning open it again and change the planned installation time if necessary.
User administration
For working with Version Manager, Windows users are divided into two categories: any Windows user and master user.
The Windows users who are allowed to log on to the server in the network with administrative rights are automatically preset as master users.

To define another Windows user as master user, click on . The dialogue choose user will be opened. Select the desired Windows user, confirm your selection with the function [check names] and take over the user [OK].
To remove a Windows user from the Master Users group, click on the user . The version manager is then available to this Windows user with the standard (ie restricted) user rights.
Check and install patches manually
By default, new patches are downloaded and installed automatically. Via the tab Patch installation Checking, downloading and installing can also be carried out manually at any time.
at the server / single workstation
When calling the tab Patch installation the system automatically checks whether new patches are available for the installed products. If new patches are available, they will be downloaded immediately. The dialogue DATAflor Patch installer is opened with the message "(Download ...)" and a waiting symbol.
The download is only carried out the first time the tab is called up in the respective program session.
When the download of new patches is finished, the dialog DATAflor Patch installer automatically closed. On the tab Patch installation the downloaded patches are displayed in the left area. You can do this with [Install patches manually now] now install manually.
at the network workplace
On the tab Patch installation the patches that have already been downloaded on the server and prepared for installation on the network workstation, but have not yet been installed on the network workstation, are displayed for the installed products. With [To install] you can now install these patches manually.
Patches that have not yet been downloaded to the server and are not yet prepared for installation on the network workstation are not available.
Program files can only be updated if they are not running at the time of patch installation. The patch installation will show you a notification if program files cannot be updated. If necessary, exit the specified program and run the patch installation again.
