Route ID
Description
The route ID is an identifier of an electronic invoice for the unique addressing of public clients in Germany (examples: authorities, municipalities, ministries). The e-billing ordinances of the federal government and some federal states require the use of the routing ID as a mandatory attribute of an electronic invoice that is sent to a client in accordance with the European standard EN 16931-1.
The design of the route ID in an authority is based on the organization of internal invoice processing. Authorities with multiple route IDs ensure by specifying the corresponding route IDs that the invoice is addressed directly to the department responsible for management. It is therefore essential that the route ID specified in the order is always used for invoicing.
